Bookshop/Restaurant of the Lighthouse
The project aims to enhance the Genoa Lantern Complex and includes two different areas of intervention, with different project objectives:
- Construction of a bookshop-restaurant-visitor center building, located at the confluence of the access routes to the Lanterna tower, the Fortifications Museum, the Lantern Walk and the Park. The building has a contemporary language but uses traditional and sustainable materials such as ‘X LAM’ structural wood and the zinc-titanium cladding that wraps the roof and the north facade like an envelope; by contrast, the large windows welcome the visitor towards the south, allowing a view of the walls and giving lightness to the volume.
- Restoration and restoration of the roof of the premises of the Lantern Museum created inside the seventeenth-century fortifications re-adapted in the Savoy era.
The 60 sqm building, with a triangular shape, adapts to the context by insinuating itself between the seventeenth-century walls, the steep slope and the access ramps to the site
