Heritage Trial in the Central Area of Riyadh

The study aims to provide a vision for a physical and cultural connection between the twelve royal palaces in central Riyadh:

  • Eastern Al Futah Palace
  • Western Al Futah Palace
  • Princess Haya Bint Abdulrahman Palace
  • Princess Alanoud Bint Abdulrahman Palace
  • Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Palace
  • King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Palace
  • King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Palace
  • Mleiha Neighborhood Palaces
  • Princess Alanoud Palace
  • Princess Lolowah Bint Abdulaziz Palace
  • King Fahad Palace

The route will consolidate and integrate a wide network of urban landmarks, such as the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, Al Masmak Fort, the Little India district, the Grand Mosque, the Al Tameer souk and market, and Salam Park.

This vision is inclusive of suggested material transformations, activation strategies, a policy of mixing activities and scenarios, design guidelines for the public sphere and for building renovation.
