New ramps of the Lighthouse Walk
The project consists of a pedestrian path of 75 m composed of a succession of ramps in steel structure and wooden deck with a “zig-zag” type path to overcome a sharp drop in altitude in a short space.
The project has the following objectives:
- Overcome the interference created by the port viaduct that interrupted the Walk of the Lantern through a pedestrian path that eliminates architectural barriers.
- Reaffirm the perceptive continuity between the two sections of the pre-existing route in terms of directionality, materials, finishes and architectural choices through the new building: adapted to the specific nature of the places, made up of a wooden deck; primary and secondary structure in juxtaposed light metal elements and parapets in perforated sheet metal supported by a pair of shaped uprights, in painted galvanized steel, similar in design to that of the Walk; plastered structural masonry.
- Reinforce the perception of the path from a distance, to signal the presence of the walk that leads to the Lantern.
“Brutalist” architectural language inspired by the materials of the adjacent port, with a wall- parapet in continuous perforated sheet metal which develops gradually, rising vertically, forming a tower with the function of a perceptive landmark that directs and guides the steps of visitors.
